This new Copyright Amendment Act will encourage more local artists to come forward as their music will now be protected.
The Amendment Act came into effect yesterday.
Local performers Voqa ni Delaidokidoki Gospel band member Vilimone Lote said the new law is timely as many people in Fiji love gospel but piracy has seen them run at a loss when they record.
Lote said that they are now looking at a new Album.
Meanwhile, aspiring artist and local musician Mr. Grin said that this new Act is a boost for local performers as their bread and butter is on the line.
