The new United States Ambassador to the Republic of Nauru, Tonga, Kiribati and Tuvalu Steven McGann has promised that he will work with all elements of Fijian society and regional partners to rebuild the country.

McGann, who arrived into the country last night, revealed that under his capacity as Ambassador said that work needs to be done to quickly restore the rule of law, strengthen civil society and rebuild democratic institutions as well.

McGann nominated by US President George W Bush for his role in restoring democracy in Afghanistan was also the Deputy Director for Pakistan and Afghanistan.

He has also promised to address the issue of rising sea levels, promote green economies based on environmentally sustainable policies and better the relationship between America and Pacific countries.
