In an effort to revive amateur boxing in the country the interim committee will host a three day tournament this month.

Boxing Commission of Fiji Director Malakai Veisamasama said the Fiji Sports Commission will fund the three day meet.

Veisamasama added that along with existing clubs, some new clubs are also expected to take part following a rural outreach programme by the Sports Commission.

Veisamasama also said the competition will now run regularly with funding provided by the Sports Commission.

A new boxing ring will be used in the tournament which is about to be completed by Tui Lomani and members of his USP boxing club members who volunteered to finish the work.

The amateur boxing tournament will be held from the 20th to the 22nd of this month at the Fiji Sports Council Fitness center at Laucala.
