Alleged wife beater out on bail
Aseri Masivou of Bayview Heights appeared in the Nasinu Magistrates Court, however, no plea was taken.
Masivou's lawyer Josaia Waqavolavola told Magistrate Alofa Seruvatu that his client wants to reconcile with the victim.
State prosecutor Corporal Leone Lautabui told Magistrate Seruvatu that they are still awaiting the medical report of the victim and there are indications that charges against Masivou may be upgraded due to the extent of the injuries his wife sustained.
Magistrate Seruvatu also made changes to the bail conditions set previously, following submissions by the defense counsel.
He has been allowed to meet his wife.
It is alleged that Masivou beat up his wife early last month in Mandir Street, Nadera, after a heated argument.
She became unconscious due to the severe beating and was rushed to the CWM hospital.
Due to the seriousness of her injuries, she had to be kept at the Intensive Care Unit for a number of days.
The matter has been adjourned to the 15th of this month when a plea will be taken.
