21 year old Petero Bai who is alleged to have raped a Class three student appeared in the Suva High Court this morning, and is now facing an additional charge of attempted murder.
Bai who was represented by a lawyer from the Legal Aid Commission pleaded not guilty to one count of attempted murder and one count of rape.
High Court Judge Justice Daniel Gounder has remanded Bai in custody until May 18th.
Bai is alleged to have raped a class three student, who was found unconscious in the school toilet. He is alleged to have punched the victim before sexually assaulting her.
The case will be called again on the 18th of next month.
