The trial in relation to an alleged rape in Navua in 2007, continued today before high court judge, Justice Priyantha Fernando where the 27 year old man charged with rape took the witness stand.

The alleged rape took place on the 20th November in 2007 where the victim and the accused were drinking together at a villa.

State lawyer, Seini Puamau asked the accused during cross examination whether he knew that the victim had a son and a husband and whether she consented or he just wanted to have a good time with her.

The accused replied that they slept together but he did not force the victim, however she walked out of the door feeling guilty.

Defence Counsel, Barbara Malimali asked the accused to explain the meaning of hooking or fixing as stated in his statement as fixing can only take place when there is a sexual attraction.

The accused replied that hooking and fixing can be done in a general way by inviting a woman for coffee.

The case continues this afternoon where a decision will be made on whether there will be Tele-conference with a witness who is overseas.
