The 39 year old man who allegedly abducted and murdered a two year old girl on Friday night appeared before Magistrate Nazeem Sahu Khan in Lautoka this afternoon.
Sairusi Nasili has been charged with one count of murder and one count of abduction in order to subject to unnatural lust however no plea was taken.
Magistrate Khan ordered that Nasili be taken for a psychiatric assessment at the Saint Giles Hospital.
The case has been deferred to 29th September which will now be heard in Suva.
The case was referred to Lautoka as tensions are high in the Momi area and police have beefed up security following the incident.
A post mortem revealed the 2 year old died of strangulation and had some physical injuries on her body.
