A 38 year old farmer charged with one count of murder, one count of assault, one count of robbery with violence and one count of resisting arrest was today denied bail by the Lautoka Magistrates Court.
Epeli Uluikaroro, unrepresented, made an application for bail however this was refused by the Magistrate on the grounds that he had previous convictions and may not appear for the next court date.
No plea was taken and he has been remanded in custody till 31st of this month.
It is alleged that Uluikaroro beat Tomuka shopkeeper Prem Narayan to death on Friday night.
The post mortem report revealed Narayan died of brain hemorrhage.
