The 32 year old father of Lekutu Bua charged with the murder of his 14 month old baby appeared in Savusavu Magistrates court today.
Ratu Beni Balemualevu faces one count of murder charge for allegedly assaulting the baby to death saying that she was possessed by an evil spirit.
Divisional Prosecuting Officer Northern SSP Viliame Sogari made an application in the Magistrate Court for a psychiatric assessment, at the St Giles hospital abnormal behaviour by the accussed. No plea has been taken.
The case will now be called on 20th August at the Suva Magistrate Court. The post mortem report of the 14 month old baby reveals that she sustained severe head injuries after she was allegedly punched several times on her head.
