A 50 year old man charged with intent act to cause grevious bodily harm today pleaded not guilty when he appeared in Savusavau court this morning.

It is alleged that Fariyad Khan allegedly hacked a 23 year old with a cane knife early Saturday morning.

The alleged incident took place in Basoga, Labasa when the boyfriend made a visit to his girlfriends place.

The father heard some noise coming out from the daughters room and upon checking he found the boyfriend hiding under the bed.

The father brought a cane knife from the kitchen and allegedly hacked it for a few times onto the victims back.

Khan appeared before Magistrate Ropate Cabelawa and he was granted bail on strict condition that he is not to interfere with any of the witnesses, to surrender all his travel documents and to report to Labasa Police Station every Saturday.

The case has been adjourned till 7th December.
