A 38 year old man from Waileka settlement close to Naiyala High School in Tailevu appeared at the Nausori Magistrates Court yesterday charged with arson.

Apenisa Naigulevu did not show any remorse when he appeared before Magistrate Salesi Temo after he allegedly burned down a house belonging to his 64 year old uncle.

It is alleged that he drank homebrew on Saturday before forcing his wife to pour kerosene in and around his uncle's house and despite the pleas from his uncle not to, he set fire to the place.

Police said nobody intervened as the suspect allegedly threatened them.

He has been remanded in custody

Naigulevu was released from prison early this year after being convicted to 5 years in prison for arson in 2004.
