Nasinu Magistrates Court denied bail to a Sakoca man charged with one count of rape who is alleged to have raped a 24-year-old woman inside his house earlier this week.

Magistrate Alofa Seruvatu refused bail due to the seriousness of the offence and ordered that the suspect be further remanded in custody.

His plea has been deferred to the 5th June.

It is alleged that the suspect, victim and her husband were drinking grog and when the grog finished the suspect insisted that he wanted to drink some more.

The suspect and the victim's husband then went out looking for grog. It is alleged that the suspect told the man to wait outside a neighbour's house while he looked for some grog.

The suspect then allegedly went back to his house and raped the woman.
