The 30 year alleged fraudster facing 49 counts of forgery, obtaining money by false pretense, abduction, impersonation and other charges escaped from Police Custody yesterday while waiting to attend his court case.

Shalendra Sinha was brought by Fiji Police on 14th September last year from Samoa for a number of bench warrants pending against him. He was being investigated by Crime Transnational Crime Unit and the Pacific Crime Co-ordination Center for many months.

Last year Sinha was granted bail of $5000 however, he left the country last year although he had a Departure Probation Order, and it is also believed he used other identification to leave Fiji.

He was brought back into the country two weeks later and was taken to court. Most of his cases were being held in the Western Division.

Meanwhile, Police are questioning a man alleged to have helped Sinha escape from the court.

Transnational Crime Unit Officers and Police Officers are working round the clock to arrest Sinha and has asked members of the Public to inform Police if they have any information on the whereabouts of Sinha.
