Team Fiji failed to win any gold medals last night in the Pacific Games but all eyes will be on Banuve Tabakaucoro today who looks good to win gold in the 200m event.
Tabakaucoro clocked the fastest time in the 200 metres heats yesterday. He clocked a time of 21.47secs.
Tabakaucoro currently holds the 200 metres record which is 21.18 secs. His personal best is 20.68secs
The 200m semi-finals will start at 6.15pm while the final will be at 8.45pm. The 4 by 400m relays will also be held at 9.45 tonight.
In the events last night, Anasa Kaito was disqualified from the 400m event after making a false start. Nelson Stone of PNG won gold in this event.
The Fiji Netball team defeated Cook Islands convincingly by 69-32.
In Hockey, the Fiji women's team defeated Vanuatu 8-1 while in the me53n's competition, Fiji beat Papua New Guinea 10-1.
In Volleyball, the Fiji men's team lost to New Caledonia by three straight sets while the Fiji women's team beat Wallis and Futuna by three sets.
In boxing, Viliame Vutikalulu beat Tonga's Sione Otutoa after a split points decision in the heavyweight 91kg category.
The Vodafone Fiji Under 23 soccer team which qualified for the Rio Olympics few days ago lost to New Caledonia 2-1 in the second semi-final of the Pacific Games.
Fiji was down to ten players in the second half as captain, Jale Dreloa was shown the red card.
Fiji will now play in the bronze medal playoff against Papua New Guinea tomorrow.
