The Prime Minister Commodore Voreqe Bainimarama has stressed that all Fijians need to do their part to usher in a new era of parliamentary democracy, opportunity and prosperity.

In his 2014 New Year’s message to the nation, Commodore Bainimarama said we must look forward as we walk through the doorstep to parliamentary democracy.

Commodore Bainimarama said the old days of a single loud voice dictating the votes of many are over permanently and from now, each and every Fijian is free to vote with their minds.

He said voters are obliged to make informed decisions about who to vote for.

He said the politics of the past are unacceptable.

The Prime Minister said a record number of Fijians have registered to vote in this year's election with almost 540 thousand so far adding that there will be even more as the government continue to reach out far and wide,  all over Fiji and overseas.
