The Joy Ali and the Joseph Kwadjo title fight has been recognised by Universal Boxing Organisation as the best fight of the year during its 2009 awards night.

UBO Oceania Commissioner Reginald Leca said the fight lasted 12 rounds and boxing fans were kept on toes for every minute of the fight.

Leca said even the promoter of the fight Sakaraia Ve Junior was recognised, when he finished as the runner-up in the best promoter category.

This was the first time that Ve Junior organised such a big fight.

Leca will be arriving into the country next week to present Ali, Kwadjo and Ve Junior with their respective medals.

Meanwhile Vanuatu's Kali Jacobus, who is likely to defend his Universal Boxing Organisations Super Middleweight title against Joseph Kwadjo was named Boxer of the Year.
