Young 13-year old Akesa Drotini will be vying for her second sports award in a fortnight's time, the FASANOC Sports Personality of the Year.

Drotini, who is now a student of Adi Cakobau School, shocked the Pacific and the world at last year's Pacific Games in Samoa, where she convincingly beat the best runners in the region to win Gold in the 5000 meters.

Akesa who was known as the baby of the team to Samoa took out the Young Athlete of the Year in last week’s Fiji Sports Council Awards night.

Kesa, as she is known amongst her peers first came to prominence winning Gold in the 3000 meters at the 2007 primary athletics meet.
