Nadi police have arrested a customs officer and two employees of a retail outlet at Nadi Airport last night for allegedly stealing five cartons of cigarettes from the retail outlet.

Divisional Crime Officer Western ASP Waisea Kadawa confirms the arrests were following a tip off. The value of the five cartons of cigarettes was around $10,000.

Kadawa said charges are expected to be laid later today after questioning the suspects.

He added it’s too early to say whether there is a racket of things being stolen from retail outlets at the Nadi International Airport and sold outside.

Police investigations continue.
