An Air Pacific aircraft bound for Sydney this morning sustained damages, after a cargo loading vehicle ran into the plane's side.

In a press release issued this afternoon, it states that the Air Pacific B747 was being loaded this morning for a 9am flight to Sydney when the incident happened. The damage caused was relatively minor but required repair before the aircraft could be released for further flight operations.

As a consequence an Air Pacific B767 aircraft that had been scheduled for routine maintenance was towed for the Air Pacific hangar to the International terminal to cater for the Sydney flight.

The B767 took off at midday with 269 customers on board. No one was injured in the incident and an investigation has been launched to look into the incident.
