Plans are underway to establish an air services deal with Dubai in the United Arab Emirates.

The Deputy Director for Civil Aviation, Joeli Koroikata said that initial talks have started and they are positive that things would turn out in their favour.

He said that Dubai has attracted world attention through many innovative, large construction projects and sports events.

He said that Tourism Fiji tried its hands on marketing Fiji to the world and Dubai holds the key to more markets that could see an increase in Fiji's tourism figures.

He said that apart from Dubai, Fiji is also looking at tapping into the Asian markets like India, Malaysia and Singapore.
