Due to increasing fuel costs and losses incurred, our national carrier Air Pacific has decided to withdraw its twice weekly service to Vancouver, Canada, from November 28th.

Air Pacific CEO John Campbell said they are disappointed to withdraw the direct flights, however, the combination of increased fuel costs and consistent loss making services requires tough decisions.

Campbell said over the last five years, losses total $11.7 million and just for 2008 average $280,000 a month which is clearly unsustainable.

He said Air Pacific will continue to service the Canadian market by offering convenient connections via Los Angeles to and from Vancouver in partnership with Alaska Airlines through a special prorate agreement.
