Fijis international carrier Air Pacific has stated that it is of the view that Fiji has the ability to train sufficient pilots to meet the needs of both Pacific Sun and the other operators in the country.

Managing Director and CEO of Air Pacific Dave Pflieger was responding to questions raised by fijivillage on whether Air Pacific will recruit Pacific Sun pilots which he had stated in an earlier interview.

Pflieger said Air Pacific traditionally recruits around six pilots per year from its subsidiary company and will continue to do so.

He added young pilots receive valuable experience flying for Pacific Sun and also allows them to achieve sufficient flying experience in order to achieve their Airline Transport Pilot License.

Pflieger said this arrangement begun right when Pacific Sun was launched by Air Pacific and started operation in November 2007.

He added as Air Pacific recruits pilots from the ranks of Pacific Sun and other sources, their positions at Pacific Sun are normally back filled with graduates from one of the two local flying schools in Fiji.
