Over 400 Air Pacific staff have been briefed on precautionary measures for the H1N1 Pandemic.

Now that the number of confirmed cases has risen to 5, preventative measures are a must.

Air Pacific CEO and Managing Director John Campbell said they have briefed 300 cabin crew and 105 pilots on procedures to follow to prevent the spread of H1N1.

When asked on whether there is compulsory pre-screening of people before they board the aircraft, Campbell said there are no known ways of legally pre-screening passengers prior to their boarding an aircraft to Fiji.

However, the airline executive said if a person arrives with suspected flu, the medical officials take over to quarantine the individual and provide appropriate medication.

Campbell said other measures are also being taken like wearing masks and gloves, cleaning the surfaces with anti bacterial cleansers.
