Indications are that visitor arrivals into the country for the month of December may finally show signs of improvement with our national carrier, Air pacific reporting an increased number of travelers over the festive season.

Acting Chief Executive Josephine Yee Joy confirmed to Village news that the airline is currently operating additional flights to major destinations around the world.

She confirms that there is a slight increase in bookings for the December/ January period compared to last year.

Meanwhile, as the Bureau of Stats now collates the visitor arrival figures for December, provisional data on the gross earnings from the tourism sector for the third quarter of 2007 shows a decrease in earnings which stands at $210.4 million.

The figures also indicate that visitors to Fiji spend an average 8.9 days in the country.
