The Captain of an Air Pacific B747-400 aircraft bound for Nadi last night with 423 passengers onboard elected to return to Los Angeles due to a minor problem with the transferring of fuel between tanks.

In a press release today Air Pacific said on application of the auto braking system on landing, two of the sixteen brake units overheated.

The aircraft returned as a safety precaution and no emergency was declared or existed. Air Pacific said both faults have been rectified and the flight has now been re-scheduled to depart later today.

Air Pacific said all passengers were accommodated in Los Angeles hotels whilst waiting for their re-scheduled flight.
