Following reviews of current and future aviation jet fuel prices, Fiji's International Airline, Air Pacific has announced a reduction in fuel surcharge for flights from and to Fiji.

The decrease on surcharge for flights from and to Fiji is approximately $19 for near destinations in the South Pacific, Australia and New Zealand.

For long distance flights from Fiji to Honolulu, Los Angeles, Vancouver and Japan the reduction in fuel surcharge is about $38.

The reductions take effect from Monday.

Air Pacific CEO John Campbell said they keep fuel prices under close and constant scrutiny and added that although the surcharges which were added earlier in 2008 only partially covered higher fuel prices paid by Air Pacific recent reductions in fuel prices appear sustainable enabling them to pass projected savings to the customers.

Campbell said the fuel price will be kept under close observation and if costs continue to fall further fuel surcharge reductions will be initiated.
