The fate of local airline Air Fiji Limited is still unknown.

It was earlier confirmed to Fijivillage by the Tuvalu Transport Minister Taukelina Finakaso that a meeting of major shareholders was to be held in China on Saturday where a decision was to be reached on how to bail the company out of its financial crisis.

There has been no word yet from the shareholders on the outcome of the meeting.

And the Transport Workers Union is still awaiting response from Air Fiji board on the future of the company and its workers as the board had their meeting in China last Saturday.

Union General Secretary, Kamlesh Kumar said they sent in a submission to the board raising their concerns on the operations
and they haven't been updated on the outcome of the meeting.

Kumar adds around ten Air Fiji workers have sought employment elsewhere whereas over 160 workers are still on leave without pay from May 1st this year.
