Air Fiji board members tightlipped
When contacted this morning, Air Fiji board secretary Sada Gounder, who attended the meeting in China, refused to reveal what decisions have been reached only saying that a statement is expected to be issued by later this month.
Director civil aviation Akuila Waradi said they are also awaiting word from the Air Fiji board and they believe that a deadline by June 30th has been set to reveal the future plans for the airline company.
The office of the Tuvalu Transport Minister Taukelina Finakaso said that the minister is on his way back from China following which a statement is expected to be issued.
Around 160 staff of Air Fiji remain unemployed, its 11 aircraft remain grounded and with its offices closed, all phone lines to the company have also been disconnected.
It has also been confirmed that some of Air Fiji's other assets have been seized by commercial banks to which it owes outstanding mortgage payments.
Air Fiji ceased all operations in late April following revelations that it was in a huge financial crisis.
