The Aid for Trade meeting starting in Nadi today will see with representatives from Pacific Island countries taking part in it with the Ministry for Foreign Affairs representing Fiji.
 
The one day meet is for Pacific island leaders to put forward proposals to the European Union for aid and assistance.
 
The Deputy Secretary for Ministry of Foreign Affairs Economic Section, Shaheen Ali said this is a follow-up of meetings held earlier this year.

He said the deadline is today which is why Pacific leaders are in the country to finalise proposals.
 
He added that the proposals are for funding from EU for the year 2011.
 
The meeting will be chaired by Pacific Islands Forum Secretariat and countries expected to attend are Federated States of Micronesia(FSM), Kiribati, Nauru, Solomons, Tonga and Cook Islands.
 
Vanuatu would not be present but have sent their finalised proposal.

The meeting is currently underway at the Novotel.
