The Ministry for Agriculture is optimistic that the prices of various agricultural produce will decrease by June this year.
Interim Minister Joketani Cokanasiga said their surveys showed that the effects of Tropical Cyclone Gene continue to push up the price of fruits, vegetables and root crops.
However, Cokanasiga said people should also realize that it’s the off season for many products and once supply normalizes prices are expected to reduce.
Markets vendors Fijivillage news spoke to earlier said that they have to sell smaller heaps of produce and sell much more in order to make a profit.
