The Agriculture Ministry is now hoping that the Public Enterprises Ministry sets up a meeting with Air Pacific this week to discuss the issue of reduction in cargo space which will affect the export of fresh fruit and vegetables.
Permanent Secretary for Agriculture, Colonel Mason Smith who is currently touring Tailevu and Ra encouraging people to plant more to increase our exports, said he wants to discuss the issue with Air Pacific after its decision to reduce the wide body jet flights to Australia.
Colonel Smith said the main concern is the exporting of fresh fruit and vegetables to Australia as the aircraft cargo space is needed for the timely delivery of the produce.
Air Pacific has already said that the decision to move away from wide body jets is a commercial one for the airline company.
