The Agriculture Ministry is now actively looking into digging up more bore-holes in the Western Division which is facing the full brunt of the dry season.
Agriculture Permanent Secretary, Colonel Mason Smith who is currently touring the Western Division said he has met a number of farmers who are going through a difficult period.
He said water sources have dried up and crops have been badly affected.
Colonel Smith said the bore-hole projects will be through public/private partnership.
He has urged the farmers affected to visit their nearest agricultural offices and explain their difficulties to agricultural officers.
Meanwhile, the people in Ba are feeling the effects of the drought as drains and wells are now drying out.
Ba Advisory Councilors Chairman, Daven Naidu said if similar conditions remain, people in Ba especially in the rural areas will need help.
In Rakiraki, a resident of Vaileka, Sanjeet Maharaj said the Water Authority is carting water to most areas but this is not sufficient as large scale farms need rain.
