Interim Finance Minister Mahendra Chaudhry has stressed that major reforms must take place in the Agriculture Ministry if it is to help Fiji's economy in any way.
In an exclusive interview with Village News Chaudhry said the Agriculture Ministries performance is vital to ensure the industry achieves its targets.
Chaudhry adds that they are looking at way to also ensure that revenue derived from the forestry and fisheries sector is retained within the economy and the resource owners also benefit.
A total of $58.77 million has been allocated in the 2008 budget for Primary industries, which consists of Agriculture, Forests and Fisheries Ministry.
