The Interim Prime Minister said the Ministry of Agriculture's structure and focus will be reviewed, to make the Ministry more responsive to the needs of farmers and stakeholders as well as for improved public service delivery.

Commodore Frank Bainimarama while opening the Field Day in Sigatoka today, told farmers that fast track processing and approval of permits involving agricultural projects, will take place.

He said concerted efforts will be taken to curb crime, not only in urban but in the rural areas where livestock, crops and farming implements are stolen.

Commodore Bainimarama also thanked the Chinese farmers in Sigatoka, who are assisting local farmers in getting integrated into commercial style agriculture that can be replicated elsewhere in the country.

The Interim Prime Minister was today also pleased to see that many Fijian women are engaged in picking up farm fresh produce, cleaning root crops and doing other farm work which are commonly practiced by men.

Bainimarama will meet and speak to the Members of the Fiji Chamber of Commerce in Nadi.
