The Agriculture Ministry said they are currently working on a joint program with other stakeholders to ensure that Fiji is self sufficient in the production of milk in years to come.
Agriculture Permanent Secretary, Dr Richard Beyer said they are currently successful with the program and there is hope that Fiji becomes self sufficient in producing milk by 2014.
Beyer also said Fiji's milk production is increasing however this is not enough to cater for the country's needs which is why milk has to be imported.
The Rewa Dairy Corporative are expected to comment later today.
