The import of potatoes from New Zealand will begin soon as the Agriculture Ministry has lifted the suspension on the import of potatoes as of yesterday.
Due to the suspension many supermarkets and retail outlets around the country have run out of supply of potatoes.
Principal Agriculture Officer from the Quarantine Department Ilaitia Boa told Fijivillage that the interim Agriculture Minister made this decision after proper consultations with authorities in New Zealand.
Boa said supply is expected to normalize by the end of the week or early next week.
