Taunovo Bay Resort Management have verbally agreed to pay for five weeks salary to their employees, who have not been paid since November 15th.

A Labour Ministry Official confirmed this was decided after the two sides met yesterday, however the Ministry wants the agreement in writing.

The official went on to say that once the agreement is received from the Taunovo Bay Resort Management and they meet the requirements under the Employment Regulation Promulgation, then and only then will they be allowed to commence with the service they are providing.

A Taunovo Bay Resort worker told Fijivillage that workers who were paid on an hourly basis last received their pay on November 15th while those who were paid on a fortnightly basis were last paid in December.

More than 60 workers walked off their jobs on Friday to show their disagreement on the issue while efforts to get information from Resort Management proved futile as all their lines are disconnected.
