The Confederation of Public Sector Unions has put the Public Service Commission on notice that another industrial action will be imminent if appropriate allocations are not made in the upcoming National budget to pay civil servants COLA and the $20 million to backdate their pay restoration.

Confederation spokesperson Agni Deo Singh said they want their concerns to be addressed in the budget.

Singh added that they are also anticipating the plans to reduce the civil service expenditure and stressed that essential services could be affected if such steps are announced.

However, PSC Chairman Rishi Ram had earlier stressed that COLA has been scrapped and that the interim government does not have the funds to backdate the pay restoration.

Meanwhile, the matter regarding the backdating of the 5% pay restoration will be called before the Permanent Arbitrator to set a hearing date on November 28th.
