5,000 flood affected students in the West will receive free hot lunches today for the next 10 weeks.

These lunches will be provided by Save the Children Fiji.

Chief executive officer Chandra Shekar said the schools have been selected according to feedback provided by head-teachers indicating students who were attending school without lunches.

Shekar said they have received some funds from donors and are seeking more money to further cater for the lunch program.

Meanwhile, today they will continue distributing school stationery to 3,200 students which is expected to be completed this week.

Another form of donation received by Save the Children is 5,000 exercise books worth $9,000 from a Sydney based organization.
