The Dairy farmers have urged Ministry of Agriculture and Primary Industries to assist the people whose farms have been affected by the Brucellosis outbreak.
Dairy Farmers Association Spokesperson, Vijendra Prakash said they had a meeting with the stakeholders on Friday and the farmers who have been affected need assurance that they will be assisted.
Prakash said farmers are worried as they have to pay their labourers and loans.
Meanwhile, Officials from the Primary Industry have been sent to various banks to inform them of the plight of dairy farmers who have been affected by the outbreak.
Media Liaison Officer Jo Uluilakeba said while a budget of $2million dollars has been given by government for testing and compensation, payment will only be made after the testing period is completed.
