More research needs to be done into the nesting habits of turtles for people to really understand the fragile lives of turtles.

Global Conservation Organization, WWF Marine Programme Officer, Sanivalati Navuku saysid if primary school children did research to be able to understand the need for conservation, then the same can be done by adults.

This is after Nakelo District School walked away with top honours in the Primary Division at the recent Tadra Kahani, the Dream Story Stage Show, with their theme "Threat to the Underwater World – Let’s conserve our turtles".

WWF has also revealed that at the moment, they are monitoring the movement of a number of turtles in Fiji waters by satellite which they had tagged.

They also added that at the moment turtles are being killed for consumption as well as to make jewellery.
