The Public Accounts Committee has revealed in its latest report   that the Minister for Women and Social Welfare in 2006, Adi Asenaca Caucau was not surcharged in relation to a government vehicle accident in 2006.

The committee said the issue that was of concern was the accident occurred in the government vehicle with two unauthorized passengers.

The Public Accounts Committee said the vehicle was driven by the then Minister for Women who was returning from the general election campaign.

It said there was an investigation carried out by the Tribunal which recommended that the then Minister be surcharged as determined by the Ministry of Finance, the then Minister to refrain from driving and the official vehicle be driven at all times by the assigned driver.

The committee revealed that the recommendations of the Tribunal were not carried out as the Vehicle Accident Report was not submitted to the relevant government authorities as stipulated in the Transport Rules and Regulations.
