An additional $100,000 has been approved by the Education Minister Filipe Bole, for maintenance and upgrading of facilities at Gau Secondary School.

The Minister has called for a complete facelift of the school, after he saw firsthand the deteriorated state of the school buildings on his visit to Gau in September this year.

So far, repairs on two wooden classroom blocks have been completed while contractors are currently working on completion of the news boys' hostel and maintenance of the existing hostel, construction of new toilet and bathroom and the maintenance and upgrading of the science laboratory.

After that, work will focus on the completion of the school's dining hall and kitchen, maintenance of vocational buildings, upgrading of library and home economics room and main school block.

Gau Secondary is expected to open its doors next year, fully equipped and also ready to provide Form 7 classes.
