The case of the 31-year-old man charged with the alleged murder of a 20-year-old man at the Suva market earlier this month has been further adjourned after the High Court ordered that the accused be sent to Saint Giles for psychiatric assessment.

The accused James Arthur Kamoaemoa is alleged to have stabbed the deceased who had tried to stop a fight between the accused and another suspect.

The case was first called in the High Court this morning, and High Court judge Justice Pryantha Fernando ordered that the accused be sent to Saint Giles Hospital for psychiatric assessment after the police doctor told the court that Kamoaemoa was acting strangely while in remand.

It was also revealed that the earlier order given in the Magistrates Court for the psychiatric evaluation was not carried out.

The matter has been adjourned to the 15th June.
