Magistrate Naomi Matanitobua told Police Accounts Clerk, Anare Johnson, "you have breached the trust of your employer", before sentencing him to two years for forgery. Johnson was also convicted of larceny and obtaining money by false pretence, each charge bringing another year to be served concurrently - all suspended for three years.

Johnson had earlier pleaded guilty and told the Court he was sorry for his actions. Due to the seriousness of the charges, he has been dismissed from the Police Force.

The $910 stolen last year was not recovered.
