Prime Minister, Commodore Voreqe Bainimarama believes the members of the Fiji Institute of Accountants have a lot to offer in moving the nation forward.

Speaking in their 38th conference at the Fijian Hotel yesterday, Commodore Baimarama said accountants should give the true view of their work and not to try to please their clients or employer.

Bainimarama stated that some continue to overlook internal systems and procedures because they do not want to upset the status quo and lose their client and income, and he stressed that ethical and moral consideration should take precedence.

Commodore Bainimarama told the participants that the Attorney General's Chambers will soon be introducing a new Companies Decree, which will address matters pertaining to accountability, responsibility and obligations which will be brought to light

Bainimarama said no longer will individuals be allowed to hide behind the corporate realm and archaic laws aided and abetted by their lawyers and accountants.
