Accidents happen and people should just be prepared.
That is the sentiment of Land Transport Authority (LTA) spokesperson Ratu Eroni Volavola commenting on the incident in Nabua that saw a bus lose all its petrol after its tank fell off.
Fijivillage asked whether the LTA is still carrying out their checks on buses following the incident, Volavola said certain incidents are unavoidable.
Volavola also added that a timeline has been set with the bus operators for them to have all the necessary changes to their buses after the recent increase in fares.
This morning at around 9 o'clock, a bus on its way to a funeral gathering lost all its fuel after the fuel tank, strapped to the underside of the bus, fell off.
Firefighters said the bus was negotiating a bend when the tank fell off.
