A 53 year old soldier, Sakario Rabuli will be laid to rest today after he died following a road accident in Labasa last month.

A number of senior military officers are attending the funeral in Bua today including the Prime Minister and Army Commander, Commodore Voreqe Bainimarama.

Rabuli was on life support since the road accident on the 28th of November and he passed away last Wednesday.

Meanwhile the driver of the vehicle which was involved in this tragic accident has been charged with dangerous driving occasioning death.

The driver who is a Senior Supervisor Enforcement for the Land Transport Authority, Antonio Masiyasa appeared in court yesterday.

He was driving a LTA vehicle along the Labasa Nabouwalu highway when the accident occurred.

Two passengers were in the vehicle including Rabuli.

Masiyasa has been released on $500 bail and told not to interfere with any witnesses and not to reoffend.
