As some public sector unions continue to try to push the Interim Administration to restore civil servants pay cut, Interim Prime Minister, Commodore Frank Bainimarama has made it clear that they should accept what they have been offered.
He stands firm that the interim government is working according to the President's mandate and will not deviate from the course.
The Interim PM also said that past elected governments have had to bow down to pressure from the unions as they were worried about their votes but the interim administration does not have to bother about that issue.
The members of the Fijian Teachers Association who walked off their classrooms yesterday will not be paid for the next two weeks.
Commodore Frank Bainimarama said this stand has been taken as he said that as far as he knows, the FTA members are on strike during the school holidays.
The President of the Fijian Teachers Association, Tevita Koroi said their members who were on strike should be paid.
Koroi said they will now seek legal advice on the matter after Commodore Bainimarama announced that the teachers who walked off their jobs will not be paid.
