About seven people have been suspended from the Customs and Immigration Department pending investigations into the alleged human trafficking scam in Fiji.
Minister for Defence and Immigration Ratu Epeli Ganilau said the step has been taken to ensure a thorough investigation into the matter.
Ratu Epeli added that the border control agencies have been challenged to eradicate such practices from occurring in the future.
13 Indian nationals are being detained at the Korovou prison and two local businessmen have been charged in relation to the alleged human trafficking scam uncovered earlier this month.
Ratu Epeli said they are sorting out the paperwork to deport the Indian nationals.
